Birchcrest 2012

The end of August, the end of summer, and the annual Savage Family week at Birchcrest.  This year we had much better weather (hurricane last year!), and made the most of it.  Before driving up, we headed to the Hamptons to watch the youngest (for a little while) Savage cousin be baptised.  And then to Maine!

The family gathering in church.  The little cousins did great throughout the whole service!
It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon when we arrived, so the first order of business was to get right in the water.

Christopher, Nathan and the dogs jumped right in!

Happy Nathan

Alex checking out the splash-ability of the water.

Nathan used his new "Blue Angel shoes" to jump off the dock again and again into Daddy's waiting arms.

Andrew hamming it up for the camera.
There was lots of fun to be had inside as well, eating, playing games, wrestling with cousins.

Christopher and Nathan finish every last drop of ice cream.

Playing "Old Maid" with Daddy and Andrew.

Alex and his favorite toy, the police truck.

And his other favorite toy, the stairs.

Within the big main room, you could always find most of the cousins in this corner.

Christopher showing monkey to Alex.

Enjoying breakfast burritos together.

Wrestling with Andrew.
Michael provides a energetic reading of "Dee and McGee"

Mimi does some quiet reading.

Nathan and his favorite toy, the number train puzzle.

Alex and Tyler up to no good.  I have a feeling they will be quite the twosome!

Napping on Daddy.
One benefit of the boys being up so early is that I got to see the morning mist on the lake as the sun rose.

We do leave the cabin occasionally, one day it was for a pontoon boat ride on a neighboring lake, the next it was mini-golf!

This was Nathan's favorite hole at mini golf, where you sent the ball up onto the platform, and then it dropped down a hole and flew off the ski jump.  He "helped" everyone get their ball in the hole, over and over.

Trying to figure out where the ball goes on this one!

Nathan was very excited to try and make the bells ring (you are supposed to hit the ball in for a free game, not drop it in)!
Shortly into the cabin week, a new cousin was added to the mix.  Brooks William Savage was born on August 27th!

Most of the cousins hanging with Mimi (Alex was napping).

All seven boys.  We calculated the odds, it is 1:128, or 0.8% chance that you would have seven grandsons!
