Happy Father's Day!

So after all the birthday parties, we had a low key Father's Day.  Nathan and I made breakfast in bed for Michael.  We realized pretty quickly that food/drink in bed + 2 toddlers = big disaster.  So we moved it to the dining room table, and Michael was happy to share.

The day was spent just enjoying the weather, going for a walk/bike ride (for Nathan on his awesome new bike) around the neighborhood and just playing in the backyard.  In the afternoon we did go to Target for Nathan to pick out Matchbox cars for hitting a certain milestone on potty training, but that isn't a topic for a public blog :)

I hope everyone had a wonderful Father's Day!

Joint Family Birthday Party for Alex and Nathan

Being born only 12 days (and 2 years) apart, Nathan and Alex will be forever subjected to a joint family birthday party.  The weather wasn't quite as stellar as yesterday, but it was still perfect for the cousins to run crazy and have fun.

We ate lots of good food, and then sang happy birthday and Alex had his first cake!  Blue frosting, everywhere.  He liked it to say the least!

Playing with the big boy cousins.
Heidi and Jason hanging with the littlest guests, Alex and Tyler.

Bubbles!

So many bubbles from his new bubble machine!

Alex seemed quite unsure about the flood of bubbles.

"No, no Alex, bubbles are good, don't be scared!" (Yes, he wore the helmet around all afternoon)

Candle! (We learned our lesson with Nathan and made sure he couldn't reach it)

Nathan had a little help from his cousin to blow out the candles.

He kind of looked like a blue cat by the end of cake.

Mmmm...

Every last crumb.

Present time!

Alex figured out opening presents pretty quickly.

The whole gang, and Nathan playing with his new lightning ball.

Nathan's 3rd Birthday Party

Nathan turned 3 on Sunday, and he has been reveling in his three-ness.  Okay, maybe not when we tell him he need to be a big boy and do something (NO! I am 2!!), but overall he is very excited about being 3.

We had a few friends over today to share Nathan's favorite meal (breakfast).  We lucked out on a gorgeous, perfect June day, and the kids took advantage it, playing and eating outside.

Happy Birthday Nathan!

Thank goodness for the former owner leaving a helium tank, we have gotten good use out of it!

A little message magically appeared on the driveway over night.  Hmmm, wonder who wrote it?

The breakfast spread - bagels from Bagel World, they are the best!

The birthday boy.

The playset got heavy use.

This is when I really love our house, such a great yard for the kids to play on!

Joy and her little one, Lydia and Chase, having some breakfast.

Carter and Sydney enjoying some food.
Nathan pulling Nathan in the wagon.  Yes, it get very confusing when we have playdates.

The youngest partier (4 weeks), Charlie, taking a rest before returning to action.

That garage really is a favorite of everyone, young and old!

Cake time!  Nathan requested a "Thomas cake".  So I put Thomas on a cake. Done!

Blowing out candles.

Mmmm, blue frosting and "red" ice cream (anything red these days is good).

Meeting of the minds.  It looks like they are discussing something very important!

Canobie Lake Park and Weekend in Maine

After Nathan enjoyed the carnival a little while ago, we decided it was time to take him to Canobie Lake Park in Salem, NH.  We used to live nearby, and it is a great amusement park, so much closer than Six Flags, and so much less expensive!

We weren't sure that Nathan would even go on the rides in the kiddie area, since he can be a little cautious.  Boy, were we wrong!  He got bored of the kiddie area (left that up to his 1 year old brother) and graduated to the dragon roller coaster very quickly.  Nathan also tackled the log flume, the train and gondola.  It was a gorgeous day, we will be back!

Heading in the gates at 9am on the dot!
 First ride on the firetrucks.
Oh yeah, just cruisin' in my wooden speedboat.
The dragon roller coaster.  Nathan rode it 6 times!
 Riding the river.
Nathan's first ride down the log flume!
We tuckered Alex out, first nap in a stroller since he was a baby.
Riding the steamtrain around the park.

Then we were off to Maine for the weekend for a visit with Mimi, Papa, Uncle Will, Aunt Lynn and Cousin Christopher.  It was just a weekend of relaxing, enjoying doughnuts (mmmm, Frosties), Gelato Fiasco and lots of family time.
A little quality time with Papa.
First birthday present, a day early!  A glide/balance bike (bike without pedals to teach balance).  He was very excited.
 Dance party!
 Playing ball outside.
First gelato!  Nathan wanted "red", his favorite color, he ordered himself and everything.  He must be 3!

On Sunday (birthday!), Uncle Will brought over his remote control airplane and we walked over to a local soccer field for its first flight.
The cousins all ready to ride!
Having a snack in the shade.
 Flying the plane.
